🌗 Light and dark theme

An interface that follows your system appearance

Adaptive appearance

• Automatically follows the device's light / dark setting
• Manual override in settings: light, dark, or automatic
• Across every Apple platform: iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV

Why this warrants its own release

• The app has forced a dark appearance since day one, a leftover from the space backdrop removed in 1.16
• Going adaptive means revisiting every hardcoded colour and replacing it with a semantic one — groundwork across all screens that deserves its own release rather than being slipped into a minor update
• Dark will remain the natural setting for a night-observing app: the point isn't to drop it, but to offer the choice

🤖 AstroCollect on Android

Native Android, Kotlin and Material 3

Native app

• Built in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose and Material 3 design
• Same celestial-object catalog as the Apple version
• Observation capture, sessions, notes, equipment
• Statistics and badges

Interoperability with the Apple ecosystem

• Compatible ZIP export/import format: move your data between iPhone and Android with a single file
• Native Android backup (Auto Backup, Google Drive via SAF)
• No account required, no tracking — the same philosophy as the Apple version

Cross-platform sync and sharing among astrophotographers

Universal sync

• Proprietary AstroCollect backend
• Cross-OS Apple ↔ Android sync via an optional AstroCollect account
• The app remains fully usable local-only — backend connection is strictly optional

Astrophoto social network (optional)

• Publish your observation photos and follow other astrophotographers
• Discover objects and sessions from other observers
• "Light Instagram dedicated to astrophotography" — no algorithmic feed, no advertising
