# AstroCollect

> AstroCollect is a privacy-first astronomy companion for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It lets amateur astronomers track their observations, build a personal sky catalog, plan sessions, and photograph deep-sky objects from six built-in catalogs (Solar System, Messier, Caldwell, NGC, IC, point sources). All data stays on the user's device and private iCloud — no account, no analytics, no tracking.

AstroCollect was released in 2025 for iPhone and iPad, and gained native macOS support in version 1.15 (May 2026). It is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store with a 7-day free trial followed by a single one-time In-App Purchase (€2.99 / $2.99). It does not have a web app, a subscription model, an API, or a sign-up flow.

## Privacy

AstroCollect stores all user data locally and in the user's private iCloud (CloudKit private database). No data is sent to any third-party server other than Apple's WeatherKit (for observing conditions) and the user's chosen calendar app (for session export). No accounts. No tracking. No analytics beyond aggregated Matomo on the marketing site itself.

- Pricing: 7-day free trial, then a one-time purchase of €2.99 / $2.99. No subscription. No in-app advertising. No in-app purchases beyond the unlock.
- iCloud sync is optional and uses CloudKit private database. No third-party sync provider.
- Weather forecasts use Apple WeatherKit and are attributed accordingly.
- Calendar export uses EventKit and writes to the user's default writable calendar with their permission.
- The app is bilingual: French (source) and English. Other languages are not currently supported.
